Honor Thy Self

Hey Ya’ll! I’m BAACCCCKKKK! So, I’m not about to hit you with a list of excuses. My full intentions are to be consistent! Legit life been lifeing and baby adjusting has been a task but WE here now! Look at God, we made it to August!!πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

Your girl got a new job, 4 months in and it has been amazing and challenging all at the same time! Can’t wait to share about God’s keeping power and how He granted me much favor but that is for another time. I want to be quite frank; I felt an urgency to share what I continue to hear in my spirit and if I am in this space I’m confident that someone else is right alongside with me.

In the word it says, And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11

So let me testify, your good sis and friend was on the brink of exhaustion. Beyond tired after working basically 2 years straight with no breaks. When I think about it, I stand in amazement of God’s keeping power because really my face should have been under the definition of work-a-holic!! I am grateful that my work ethic is strong, and determination is part of my makeup but there comes a time you need to sit down. Shoot even in the first chapter of the Bible, God himself who created the heavens and earth rested on the 7th day. Indeed, I am not greater than Him, so I am learning and trying to put in practice ways of honoring myself.

Let’s first look into the definition of honor:

A game of honor - Sixtyone

How we perceive honor can leave us in a bad spot if we are not careful. Many times, we think of honor for Kings and Queens, high profile individuals, people with titles and positions. Consider this thought, if we really believe that we are made in God’s image should we not honor the God in us and who God has created us to be?

I believe that God desires for us to value and take pride in the beautiful individual creations He has made us to be. I will be completely transparent. This concept of honoring myself in a more intentional way is new. I love myself for sure but there has been times that I have been guilty of loving and valuing others over myself. Saying yes even when I really wanted to say no, forcing myself to go along with things to keep the peace and the list goes on.

Loving others is the foundation of being a follower of Christ! We are petitioned to do it but the only way we can effectively do so is by loving God and ourselves FIRST!

So, let’s get to honoring ourselves in a deeper way! I truly believe as we honor ourselves, we will be honoring God at the same time. I’m excited to share more and on that note…..

Surprise, surprise this is going to be a series! Yassss to a series. I love to binge watch a new series and I pray you all feel the same way about this. Please subscribe and follow along as we do the good work of the Lord by honoring ourselves.

Until the next time..

Be Encouraged, Be Blessed and Be You!

Xoxo, Erin Nicole

  1. Thank you for your realness and being open about honoring yourself! So many times I have given more honor to others than myself and actually ignored the voice of God! Shame on me! I’m going to forget that I’m already doing better. You are a true testimony of resilience and compassion! Keep writing! Love ya!!
